1968, Langenhagen, Germany
1969 - 1998, Essen, Germany
1998 - present, Hamburg. Germany
I was born on 14 May 1968 in Langenhagen, Germany, where my father worked as a haulage contractor in Hanover. In 1969 my parents left the city in Lower Saxony with me and went back to their old home in Essen in the Ruhr area.
I grew up there, went to school and then trained as a coachbuilder.
After a year of social work, I decided to follow my passion for photography and do an apprenticeship as a photographer. I did this in Essen at the advertising photo studio Georg Pieron.
I then moved to Düsseldorf and worked as a photo assistant for various portrait, fashion and car photographers.
In 1996 I moved to Hamburg to start an apprenticeship as a photo editor at the renowned photo agency 'Bilderberg'. But after three months I realised that office work was not my world, so I went back to production and then travelled again as a photo assistant for various car photographers in Europe and America.
Since 1998 I have been living and working as a freelance photographer in Hamburg.
